LIVE in Concert at TIMS – Ben Rothermel

On Friday, July 17th we’ll be closing out our first TIMS week of 2009 with a concert featuring Ben Rothermel.

Transitioning from a nine year old who didn’t want to practice violin to a 19 year old dude who spent all of his money on an acoustic guitar is quite a leap! However, life is all about transitions for aspiring musician Ben Rothermel. Moving from classical studies to investing his energy into folk music was a transition that made sense considering his developed ear for acoustic sounds.

Currently studying music at Visible School in Memphis, TN, Ben spends most of his time studying music theory and writing new songs. He is slowly building a vast array of sounds and musical skills that he hopes to culminate in a 2009 record release. For the time being however he is performing everywhere and anywhere he can get booked!

While growing up in York, PA Ben was active with his band noredtape. Noredtape performed numerous shows at local coffeehouses and battles of the bands over a two and a half year stretch. In the early spring of 2008 noredtape released a self produced EP entitled, Eyes Wide Open. The EP was a huge hit within their small community and over 150 units were sold. Before Ben left for college and the band split up noredtape was touring as far away as Philadelphia, PA.

Always looking forward and hoping for the best, Ben is working hard and strengthening every aspect of his music. No matter what the future holds, Ben will always find himself writing music and expressing himself through sounds and words. He is constantly pushing himself to step out for the sake of what he loves – music and song.
