CRC Snow Camp: Teens Have Been Exposed!

It’s been an awesome weekend at the Christian Retreat Center’s annual Snow Camp Weekend. If you recall from my previous post I shared the theme of the weekend; “Confronting Jesus & Exposing Ourselves.” But on Saturday morning just an hour before I was due to preach I realized the title needed to be changed to “Jesus Confronting & Exposing Us.”

Xposed2Jesus - During our forty eight hour get-away Jesus confronted the teens using a handicapped man by a pool (John 5:1-9) who exposed us to the truth that when we’re tired spiritually we need a lift. But first we need to decide to get well, stop giving excuses, and then do what Jesus says. Later Jesus confronted the teens using the Donald Trump (a rich man) of his time (Matthew 19:16-26) to expose us to the truth that doing good isn’t good enough. And like the rich man sometimes we have a hard time letting go; instead we want to hold on to our struggles, possessions, and hurts. We try and try so hard to FIX what is wrong in our lives under our own power or we’re not willing to let go and make a full commitment to Jesus Christ. Jesus says in Matthew 19:26; “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” It’s never about what we can DO, but rather what has been DONE through Jesus Christ.

Finally, Jesus confronted the teens using the woman at the well (John 4:5-42) and exposed us to his grace by forgetting our past sins and know we are forgiven through Christ alone. Like the woman at the well Jesus will never hold your past against you, but will reveal himself as the Messiah. But being exposed to his grace and forgiveness doesn’t stop there; we are to express it to others by telling them what Jesus has done for us.

Xposed2Snow – not exactly! Despite no snow for snow camp the teens were still able to pull off a snowman making contest. Of course it meant collecting and carrying snow in buckets from areas of the camp that were still covered with left-overs. And while some teams chose the “traditional” look, others opted for a more creative and artistic look.

Xposed2CRC – you never need snow. All you need is the amazing team of counselors, the dedicated & passionate camp director Jeremy Wagner, and of course the AWESOME teens!
