Sixty Plus Teens “Equip”-ped to Share their Faith
So…what did I do this weekend? I spoke to sixty plus teens at our home church (WSEFC). This weekend was their annual “Equip” Conference. Traditionally the teens would split into smaller groups attending different seminars that would equip them to serve within the church. This year Pastor Tony and his leadership staff wanted to change the focus and steer this year’s conference toward equipping the teens to share their faith.
Throughout the weekend during the four sessions I would have several teens come forward to role play, putting them into situations where they would have to share their faith. At times we all found ourselves laughing and having a great time (as you can see in the photo my head is not bowed in prayer, but in laughter), but with each session
the teens quickly grasped the importance of telling their friends about Jesus.
My heart has been truly blessed by all the teens this weekend they are awesome! Between sessions I had the chance to speak with many of them one on one as they shard their hurts, concerns, confusions, doubts and fears. Their dead on honesty was refreshing as many shared with me their broken hearts for their lost friends. We concluded our time together with a challenge…it was AWESOME watching and listening as some took the challenge and immediately called their friend they had been praying for all weekend. Remember…keep praying for your friends, when you see them..bring God up in your daily conversations, and be sure to explain the gospel to them in a clear way.
If you attended the “Equip” Conference here is my question: Have you taken the challenge and if so are you willing to share it right here on my blog. I’m looking forward to reading your stories. I’m looking forward to what God is doing through you and in the hearts of your friends.

this is a repost of a comment from becca petrie:
hey brian.
alright, i took the challenge to talk to a friend about Jesus.
my friend kyle is an atheist. he used to be a good kid, but things came up and he turned his back on the world.
well, i called him and asked him if he would want to come to youth group with me tomorrow, i didnt think he would want to, but he did!
he said he can probabaly come, but he has to talk to his mom because he thinks she might have made plans to go visit his grandpa.
i really hope he can come.
thanks for putting us up to the challenge.
=)
Hey,
i doubt you remember me, but I’m blonde and in 8th grade. I recently took the challenge you gave us at equip after I had prayed about it. I thought my freind would never even begin to listen to what I was going to say, but she surprised me. Whan I asked her if she’d ever been to church her reply was yes. After asking a few questions, i asked her if she’d like to go to church with me sometime and she said yes. I was so excited! Thank you so much for everything!!!
