National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets vs. Eternal Treasure: Book of Truth (the Bible)

If you’re a fan of “National Treasure” the movie, then get ready. This Christmas Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) is back in “National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets.” This time he looks to discover the truth behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, by uncovering the mystery within the 18 pages missing from assassin John Wilkes Booth’s diary. In one of the pages Ben’s great-great grandfather is implicated as a key conspirator in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and Ben sets out to prove his ancestor’s innocence. Along the way he and his crew also uncover a trail of the world’s most treasured secrets.

Today there is a real book filled with treasure…but it’s not a secret. And we don’t need to go searching the globe on an adventure to look for it (though an adventure does sound cool). No the treasures I’m talking about are found in the Bible. A book we can easliy get our hands on at just about any store.

And it’s in the Bible we will discover the truth behind:
- Who is God?
- Who is Jesus?
- Is heaven and hell real?
- Is Satan real?
Many of our questions are answered in the Bible and you can bet there are no missing pages. Every page, word, and period are in their right place.

Psalm 119:160 says; “All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.”

Here is another truth found in the Bible. The treasure that Ben Gates seeks will not last. Eventully they will be destroyed. But God says in Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” God’s Word is eternal, meaning forever.

I pray you are taking time everyday to read through a mountian of treasure - the Bible. You’ll also find no greater adventure then exploring the truth of God’s Word. It’s my prayer we all focus on the eternal treasure: book of truth (the Bible).
