Creation 07’

29 06 2007

I just returned from Creation 07′ at Agape Farm in Mt. Union, PA. I left real early this morning to arrive around 7:00 am to pouring rain, muddy road-ways, and waking teens crawling out of their tents. I made my way to one of the food vendors, grabbed a cup of coffee and some breakfast and sat near a group of teenagers. I soon found out they traveled all the way from Georgia. I was curious to know what would motivate a youth group to travel so far to attend Creation and was expecting to get the typical answer; “we came for the great music and bands.” Instead they told me they came so their unsaved friends could hear the gospel and then listen to great music. They told me they had brought ten unsaved friends and on Thursday night six put their faith in Jesus Christ.

No matter what your opinion is of Creation bottom line the gospel was and is being preached. One of those who was called to preach on the main stage was Greg Stier of Dare2Share. This morning Greg challenged the large crowd of thousands to become “losers” for Jesus Christ and quit being “posers.” As I stood listening to him preach Jason Lamb shared with me that Greg had lost his voice the day before. But through prayer God gave Greg the words and voice he needed to preach the “clear” message of the gospel this morning. Later he equipped more then 300 youth leaders to take the “Go Wide Strategy” back to their teens and church. Read more about Greg’s lost voice: “Twelve hours of silence at Creation Fest East.”

My day at Creation Fest 07 resulted in experiencing three amazing works from God.

  • A group of teens from Georgia I never met shared great news about their six friends.
  • God worked through Greg and healed his lost voice so he could complete the work he was sent to do.
  • And a friend reminded that apart from Christ I can do…NOTHING!
