Whenever one of my favorite websites/blogs is updated I receive via my Outlook an RSS feed. This morning I got one of those updates from Greg Stier’s website entitled; “Why don’t teenagers share their faith more often?”
His latest post touches on a particular area of ministry (evangelism) and I couln’t have said it any better. I encourage you to click on over and read his post. Then tell me if you disagree. Because if you’re heart is open to what is going on around you today I can’t see how you could disagree.
In my own journey to evangelize, at times it feels like a lonely journey as many of my peers don’t seem willing to join my side on the frontlines. My prayer is for everyone (adults and teens) to see the need to evangelize using God’s Word and verbal speech, not just by “lifestyle” or simply handing someone a tract. Greg is right, teens don’t share thier faith more becuase “they are not seeing it modeled by Christian adults.”
It’s time to get up off the pews and couches, step outside the church and home and tell people about Jesus. It’s time we stop thinking it’s someone else’s job when God is clear in Matthew 28:19-20 that it is every believers job. It’s time to stop sitting around waiting for people to ask you about Jesus.
If our teeangers are going share their faith they need more then just lip service from us, they need to see living, breathing, actively sharing models of evangelism. So…as I typed these words and read Greg’s latest post only one thing is consuming my mind at this moment. I’m going to step away from my laptop, head to our community park near our high school and take a walk. Hoping and praying for an opportunity to share Jesus with anyone who needs to hear. Will you join me?

Let’s Go share Jesus!!!!!!!

I’m tackling the young adults…just seems to be where I’m catching people…but I’m right there with you!! Lifestyle might open the door or reinforce, but telling them about Jesus is a necessity!!!
